Unknown Reasons of having headache
A
headache caused by tension is which is manifested by a constant pain or
stiffness in the forehead and temples in the neck. Usually, the headache is
mild or slight and does not hinder daily activities. But there are cases where
the pain is severe, continuous or irregular. This type of a headache is common
and tends to recur, especially in times of stress. The stress episodes caused
by tension can last 30 minutes to several days.
The
frequency and severity of headaches caused by tension feelings can be prevented
by reducing muscle tension and avoiding triggers such as anxiety, tiredness,
stress, anger, hunger, improper position or fatigue. If headaches are caused by
muscle tension in the neck, shoulders or back, the posture and position in
daily activities should be adjusted.
Headaches in children
Headaches
are common in children and usually not serious. As with adults, children may
experience different types of headaches, including a migraine headache due to a
stress and chronic headache. In some cases, the symptom is caused by an
infection, high levels of stress, anxiety, or mild head trauma.
If
headaches occur due to tension in children, they may be related to stressful
situations at school, such as tests or other school-related events
(competitions, events). Headaches can also be caused by insufficient sleep. If
pain does not improve with analgesics, then children should consult a
physician.
Migraine
headaches improve with increasing age. Sometimes they can persist for a
lifetime. Early high school, most boys who had migraines get over, but in
girls, these headaches can persist due to hormonal changes. During teenage
years, migraines occur at a frequency of three times higher for girls than for
boys.
Drug treatment of a headache
Headaches
may be reduced after the administration of prescription-free drugs, such as
non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen or aspirin. If the pain is
severe it may be necessary to administer prescription drugs, such as
antidepressants, to reduce the frequency and intensity of the pain.
Additionally, complementary therapies acupuncture or meditation can be tried to
relieve stress and prevent headaches.
Eliminating
or reducing stress, depression or anxiety can reduce the frequency of headaches
due to tension. The best pain therapy includes administering these drugs in
combination with therapies to reduce stress.
